INTEL SANDY BRIDGE

Want to be among the first to have in my hands an Intel Series-E Sandy Bridge, which is compatible with socket LGA 2011 platform and architecture with 8 cores? With this auction on EBay this is possible, provided of course that you have a suitable motherboard and a good amount to invest.

An engineering sample of this processor with clock frequency of 1.6 GHz, multiplier unlocked Turbo Boost and disabled, is in fact appeared in an online auction at a price of $ 1,359.99 U.S.. This is a sample of pre-production, intended for use in internal testing and not for sale, with a clock rate that is lower than that is found in versions for marketing.

Technically, the engineering samples are provided by Intel in use and not sold, much less honored, the company can request a refund at any time, which is not very compatible with the sale on eBay. However it is not uncommon to find in the engineering sample sale online.

The debut of these processors is expected in the fourth quarter of 2011, coupled with new LGA 2011 socket motherboards equipped with Intel x79, the placement will be in the top of the line segment of the market, going to take the place formerly occupied by the solutions Core i7-900 Extreme Edition of the family.

Among the main changes included the implementation of the controller type of quad channel DDR3 memory, PCI Express, which in addition to that previously had been integrated into the Intel X58 chipset. There will of course all the architectural innovations introduced by the Intel CPU family Sandy Bridge.

Intel's processors Sandy Bridge-E Series desktop systems are provided only as a 6-core, according to information currently available from Intel's internal roadmap. Therefore conceivable that this is engineering sample of the version for server solutions, belonging to the Xeon family, which agrees with the desktop platform, the socket connection.
