AMD CPU ROADMAP year 2012

amd cpu roadmap
New information on the amd cpu roadmap and APU, which plans to introduce during the year 2012 were published. Over the next year will see the debut of the first APU built with 28-nanometer production technology: we refer to the known solutions with the code name of Krishna and Wichita.

Amd cpu roadmap  of these solutions will be based on a new version of Bobcat core of the family, improved compared to what is implemented in AMD's APU Series C and E are currently on the market. The number of cores will vary from 1 to 4 depending on the version of the APU, against the proposed single and dual core processors available today. The GPU will continue to remain part of class DirectX 11, presumably with increases in performance compared to current solutions provided with the platform Brazos.

In the mid-market segment will continue to see amd cpu roadmap, products made with 32-nanometer production technology, in which case the production will be entrusted to GLOBALFOUNDRIES, while it is still unclear whether the same will happen with the process to 28 nanometers, or if production will be given the Taiwanese TSMC. For this series of products will find the Trinity family APU, with Bulldozer architecture solutions internally with dual or quad core next to a GPU architecture that is always of DirectX 11. As already reported in the news, this should be based on integrated GPU architecture VLIW4 and not the one adopted in the proposals VLIW5 Llano.

In the top of the line segment of the market will continue to see proposals from AMD APU but traditional CPU architectures. Komodo is the code name of the CPU that will take the place of the Zambezi solutions during 2012, for amd cpu roadmap products, the reference platform is called the crown, indicating the presence of a "FMx infrastructure" for which there is insufficient at present
accurate information.
