Intel Core i7-990X Best Laptop Processor Type
The Sandy Bridge architecture introduced some time ago has led us to ask if there was still room for life for the Core i7 900 series. The crucial point is one: why spend up to $ 1000 for a six-core processor if a quad-core CPU offers obvious improvements for about 330 euros (2600K Core i7 processor, for example)?
We believe Intel Core i7-990X is the best laptop processor type right now with the LGA 1155 motherboards for the new CPU would have snapped if not for the problems shown by Intel with H67 and P67 chipsets. The fans surely would have bought in bulk as a CPU, the Core i5 2500K, over clocking to achieve high performance at a relatively small price.
But Intel has some horrible limitations imposed platforms Sandy Bridge. When you buy a motherboard P67, completely lose access to Quick Sync. If you buy a H67 solution, you lose the ability to over clock the K-series models, designed just for fans of over clocking. Whatever path you choose then you will lose some of the features offered by Sandy Bridge. Is reason enough to wait for the Z68 chipset?
