Best of the best small laptops Asus EEE PC 1015PEM

Small Laptops Asus for the first Eee PC with 10-inch screen and dual-core Atom processor N550 has been reviewed by the editors of American Laptop. The asus 1015PEM goes on sale with list price equal to 379 €.

The big news is the Small Laptops Atom processor N550 at 1.5GHz used for the first time in the industry, it is true that some Asus have already hosted a dual-core Atom, the Eee PC 1201N and 1215N, but it was always built models for PC, no laptop, with energy consumption to the limit of the category.

This is contrary to the Atom N550 processor designed specifically for netbooks and, despite the dual core, it consumes very little more than the previous models, the single core.

The review focuses on this, trying to shed light on increasing performance compared to the "old" models with Atom N450 or N270. Benchmarks in the Small Laptops Eee PC 1015PEM proved faster than the previous netbook by about 20% and like in his first real rival, the Acer Aspire One D255 reviewed by the editors of this American a few hours before Asus (I have spoken netbooknews.it of yesterday).

20% increase means the ability to view streaming HD video (720p Flash - albeit with occasional problems because the GMA3150 graphics card still not participating in the operation, leaving everything to the CPU load) and be able to keep open many programs at once better than Small Laptops before.

All this, as mentioned before, without sacrificing the autonomy so important. The 6-cell battery has held up the "Laptop Battery Test" - which then has the same software that I use in my reviews - for 8 hours and 7 minutes, more than the industry average and despite the dual-core processor. This result was obtained with screen brightness at 40% and Power Save Mode. His rival Small LaptopsAcer gets under the same conditions, about 7 minutes more of battery life; data in hand we can say that the impact of the Atom processor N550 is not considerable autonomy.
