HDD Seagate Barracuda XT high-performance desktop drives

HDD Seagate, after the first experiments with AMD in recentl, is the first manufacturer to market with a storage disk with SATA interface III to 6 Gbit / s.

The Hdd  is called Barracuda XT (ST32000641AS) and uses the technology currently used on the Barracuda family, along with an innovative communication interface Sata III to 6 Gbit / s.

The capacity of this HDD is 2 Tbytes, combined with the rotation speed of 7,200 rpm and 64 MB cache, allow a maximum speed of 138 Mbytes / s, because that makes you think ...

The standard currently used by all HDD SATA II is in fact credited with 3 Gbit / s theoretical, together with the most modern SSDs, can result in a real top speed of about 260 Mbytes / s, almost twice the Hdd Seagate model presented here.

Consequently, the Sata III (fully backward compatible with SATA I and II) does not seem to serve much to this product. Rather it will be necessary for the next generation of SSDs, ready to break the barrier of 300 Mbytes / s with a HDD single disk. So why Seagate SATA drives on the III? That there are carried out at the horizon of the largest solid state HDD manufacturer?
